Do you get confused about your age?
I certainly do…at least at the moment.
I have always looked younger than my actual age. As a matter of fact I have never felt older than 32. I know that each year I celebrate a birthday which means I am aging, but the fact remains, I have the same urges, cravings and desires as when and before I was 32.
I find myself being attracted to the same type of men, within the same age group and with the same intellectual capacity I was attracted to at that age.
I took it for granted and never really thought much about it because younger men are attracted to me. Yes, it seems that I have more suitors between the ages of 25 and 35 than I do in the 40s and 50s. As I said, I never thought about it. My partner is two years younger than I am, but he looks a lot younger than his years.
So here is the wake up call. Recently someone called me a “Cougar”. Jeez, I was surprised! I never thought I was. Don’t get me wrong, I am not offended, just shocked that anyone would see me as “old’ because, even though I am 42, I am much younger. What I mean is, I don’t feel 42 and I know my biological age is somewhere in the 30s.
The shocking thing about it was, other people don’t see your biological age when they look at you, they see your actual age, especially if they are younger than you. So here I was, totally shocked about being a cougar and not knowing what to do about it.
The problem is, I am so confused as “what to do”. Do I go around and tell people that I want them to think of me as 32 or should I just accept being 42? Is being 42 old?
I decided to do a little soul search and this is what I came up with:
- I am still that sexy, irresistible woman I was at 32.
- Still beautiful with amazing skin, hair and nails.
- I feel alive and sensual, just like I was 32 again.
- I have the same ailments I had when I was 32, nothing more.
I came to this conclusion. I will not cringe if someone calls me a “Cougar”. I will politely them them that I am young and vibrant and could probably outdo any 20 year in the fitness department. I will tell them that my sex drive is probably more intense than any 25 year old’s. I will tell them that being 42 is just the beginning of a vital life with new experiences.
Here is my conclusion, I am not happy to be called a Cougar, I think the term is vulgar, BUT, I am happy to be a woman with experience, grace and still as sexy as hell!
