The Dirty by Design Series started as a stand-alone called Dirty Encounter. The idea was to pattern a character after my mother who is a pastor. The main MC – Colt was a character I had created a long time ago and wanted to give him a story. I’ve always loved the name Colt and thought it was a fitting name for a Rock-Star.
In December when I ran a poll, asking my readers to select their first read for the New Year, Dirty Encounter won. I was motivated to deliver, and in the process of writing Dirty Encounter the idea for another story hit me. Before I knew it, I had a three book series.
But as I wrote each book, another idea kept surfacing. Now there are seven books planned for the series. The truth is, there might be more as I am planning to explore my creative mind and see what it has to offer.
The Dirty By Design series was meant to be short sexy reads for those who needed easy reading. No complicated plot twists. Just sexy fun. Each book is between 28,000 – 40, 000 depending on the story development.
Some readers complain that the books are short, and here’s my answer. I write what comes to me. I don’t believe in fluffing a story to make it longer. If I extend the plot for these stories, then the idea for the series will change.
I like to call each book bite-sized, and that’s what they are. Just enough to whet the appetite and leave you wanting to read the next story.
In December of 2018, when I put Dirty Encounter on pre-order, it went to #1 New Release in category. How exciting to finally get a yellow tag. In January when the book was finally live, it got back its yellow tag – #1 New release. For several weeks it was #1 New Release in two categories. Then on February 14 when Dangerously Dirty was releases, it too went to #1. For several weeks right into March, both books were #1 New Release in separate categories.
It was great motivation for me, as I was having doubts about these stories. My readers, I believe, have become accustomed to the romantic suspense. I am an all-round writer. I write romance as I feel it. Not every story I write will be edged with danger and mystery. Sometimes all we need is just a little steam and sex.
